History:
Yg’baladoth comes from the furthest reach of all known galaxies in a place called The Brink. It is a nightmarish place that is filled with the cascading flow of moving space, time folding in on itself, and limitless change. Here, the only things capable of surviving are The Strange Ones, which is a broad category of eldritch beings that dwell there. Strange Ones take on many shapes and powers, but appear to be centered on a hierarchical system which is primarily determined by whether or not The Strange One is capable of eating and/or consuming the other. As a Strange One grows in power, they reduce the certainty of imminent death, while also increasing the possibility of having a rival for food resources.
Yg’baladoth’s story begins when two Archons—the highest ranked Strange One—met. One was called Xul’gaborah, the Queen of Screams, whose very realm shattered all who approached and the Archon who approached was Ul-zen-nar, The Eye of Fate, whose is said that when his eye blinks he bears witness to the full tapestry of what was, is, and will be simultaneously. The Eye provided the Queen with a request which she refused. Ul-zen-nar opened its eye and Xul’gaborah was torn to pieces.
Yet even the pieces of the archons contained power. A tendril from Xul’gaborah’s hand fought to live. The tendril drew sustenance from other Feeble Ones weaker than it. Through luck – and perhaps through some outside guidance – the tendril grew until it was able to form its own body and mind. This was the beginnings of the Strange one known as Yg’baladoth.
After millenniums of struggling and surviving, Yg’baladoth’s gained ability to reason: she was clever and shrewd in her tactics. This is an uncommon skill within Strange Ones, who primarily use their own powers to subdue others. Shortly thereafter Ul-zen-nar took an interest and summoned her into its realm. The Eye provided Yg’baladoth the same decision it gave her mother: it wished to know of order and needed one which could move among the beings of order without disturbing it. Remembering what happened to Xul'gaborah on her refusal, Yg’baladoth had no choice to but to consent, while also being a bit curious of the world herself.
Upon agreeing, Yg’baladoth remained within Ul-Zen-Nar’s realm to master the abilities necessary to keep her own powers from affecting others. Afterwards, she was sent into the realm or order to uncover what she could. The first world she visited was an alternate dimension of Equestria. There, she took on the form of a Changeling and was introduced to the beings of order for the first time. At first she was skeptical of their talk of friendship and community. The only relationships Strange Ones typically have are ones in which two powerful Strange Ones agree not to destroy one another: a momentary but temporary truce. Yet, through witnessing the bonds of friendship, she saw that these ponies were capable of overcoming challenges which was far greater than themselves. Though it took her a while, she eventually started making friends of her own.
After learning what she felt as she could, Yg’baladoth departed from the world, once again reentering the nexus between worlds to see what her next destination can teach her.
Personality:
The first and most prominent aspect of Yg’baladoth’s personality is her pride. She knew (or was at least reasonably sure), that she was a Strange One of high power among her kind. But beyond this sense of achievement comes a pride in her ability to know and understand. She uses reason, which is a pretty rare trait among Strange Ones in general and she knows it. She knows that she is far and away one of the most powerful creatures and is completely confident that her time would not take long to uncover the mysteries of the world.
Another important aspect of Yggy’s personality is her ability to reason and value knowledge. One of the reasons why Ul-zen-nar had chosen her (probably) was because he knew that she possessed this quality within herself. Even before she left The Brink she began to devise her own understanding of the realm she was a part of: Those that Control, Those that Consume, Those that Corrupt, Those that Destroy, and Those that Overwhelm. This taxonomy of her own kind is practically unheard of, especially within Strange Ones. Her desire for knowledge is what drives her to continue to know about things that she did not know previously. While her pride may get in the way at times, if she is presented with something new to discover or learn, she will be an invested and interested audience. This desire also ensures that she will reduce the strain of her presence on the fabric of reality to a minimum. She does not want to cause any more disturbance to the world than she does through her presence.
In spite of her knowledge and ability, she is still relatively ignorant to the world around her. While this is often frustration, Yg'baladoth possesses a naive, child-like curiosity about the world around her. There are many things that she is discovering something for the first time. Her attention is sparked to life as she wishes to uncover everything she can about this new thing. Until she uncovered everything she felt she can know about it, her curiosity an attention will remain intent and true. Yet once she has understood an idea or concept to the fullest (in her mind) she will no longer be interested in the idea and will move on to the next object or concept. For this reason she has a great interest in philosophical concepts like love and order, as they are more difficult concepts to develop and require much more discussion in order to develop true understanding.
As a survivor of the Brink, she is also endlessly pragmatic in her approach to dealing with problems and getting what she wants. Beyond altering the state of reality, she has no problem being as ruthless and destructive as is necessary to get the job done. Ordinarily, she is aloof and realistic, recognizing that she doesn’t want to get too involved to the beings that she wants to understand. Yet it is also this pragmatism that allows her some form of civility. She knows that the best way to get information out of people is to afford a small measure of respect in return, and to offer the opportunity to answer any questions they may have of herself and her world. Though she would rather receive information right away, she is not unaware of providing some concessions so that she can acquire information more easily.
Yet within all of her confidence, Yg’baladoth is worried and anxious. She knows that at any moment the Eye will blink once more and she will once again return to his realm to receive his answer to the secret of Order. This uncertainty consumes her frequently and she knows that there is a deadline to keep.
Since entering into Equestria’s alternate universe, Yg’baladoth had developed more of an understanding of how beings of order function. She believed that perhaps their inherent weakness was what caused collaboration to actually begin, and it is through mutually seeking to benefit others that they were able to overcome obstacles which by all accounts should have easily defeated them. Another thing that she uncovered was the extent to which beings of orders could have powers, with some being able to create energy or matter at will. This is of interest to Yg’baladoth as these are powers that are typical among her kind. Lastly, the revelation that the primary antagonist of the world was once a being of order that had been changed into chaos was also noteworthy, as she had thought until then that such a feat would never be possible.
Most importantly, Yg’baladoth learned to start making friends. In her mind, of course, she is making consideration toward other beings of order that she found particularly interesting and valuable to communicate with. In time, she found herself content by their existence, which was a feeling she never had before. She had also learned that beings of Order are fragile and temporary creatures. Although death was not an uncommon occurrence in The Brink, in the Realm of Order Yg’baladoth found that she was troubled by the fact that she would outlive those that she met. This thought confused her for quite some time and is an unresolved issue for her. For why should she care that the momentary existence of these beings would be such a short length of time? And why do they seek to act in ways that could potentially end their existence? These thoughts troubled her, and while she did not have a completed answer she hoped the next world would be able to provide some explanation.
Gem Considerations: Cinnabar, as a red orb that is centered on her forehead.
Cinnabar is an old and powerful stone, which has had a long-time use for transformation, magic, alchemy and healing. It has long since been used as a medium to improve magical potential, thinking, and awakening ones’ third eye. All of these qualities describe Yg’baladoth perfectly. Her goals and ambitions are the continuing pursuit of knowledge about the beings of order, and as a creature of chaos, she is an entity that is manifested power. Yet in spite of this potential for destruction, she still retains a curiosity of the world and seeks to improve her knowledge.
Another interesting quality of Cinnabar is that it is also the base material from which we get mercury from. Chemically, cinnabar is mercury sulfide, and it is actually dangerous to heat up cinnabar because that could potentially produce toxic fumes. This is another excellent quality for Yggy to have, as in her natural state is inherently dangerous to beings of order. This also describes her foreignness as well as an entity who is mostly inert but still possesses the ability to be extremely harmful if handled incorrectly.
Her goals at Cosmo would be threefold: one, she would want to know about what entity of order would have enough power to restrain her own and augment her in such a way to make her something else. This will be of more immediate concern to her, as she has not had to be subject to a power cap before. This is archon-level power at the least and is of sufficient note to cause her to want to investigate how this could be possible. Second, she’d be interested in crystal gems as an entity. They would possess a physiological makeup that Yg’baladoth had not seen before and their properties and existence would be of great interest to her. Once again, the beings of order have started to take on a form that is more in line with beings of chaos, which makes her wonder what direction beings of order are going and what mechanisms are in place which cause them to move into becoming more like her kind. Finally, she’d be interested to see how ordinarily normal creatures of order handle the infusion of new powers and what that does to their social structure and willingness to help each other out.
Power considerations:
As the Lingering Murmur, Yg’baladoth’s realm lies in her mastery over the chaos that is sound. She has always had this power since the beginning of inception. Were she to even to receive her first power, the degree and potency of her own power would be reduced to such a level that she wouldn’t be able to recognize herself. She would not like the feeling of powerlessness and wonder just exactly how she can survive having been used to her powers so long.
In some respects, though, it would be an interesting experiment to see just what a Strange One would do when they no longer have their full control over the aspect that they represent. Additionally, losing her power would come as a bit of a relief as her natural state is so detrimental to sound that she has to constantly control her own energy output to keep the walls from screaming (figuratively and literally).

Key Points:
- Xul’gaborah the Queen of Screams, was destroyed by Ul-Zen-Nar, The Eye of Fate.
- Yg’baladoth was “born” from the discarded remains of Xul’gaborah that maintained a basic form of sentience.
- Yg’baladoth spent the next thousands of years in a cycle of eat or be eaten, consuming smaller beings of chaos while avoiding those that could eat her.
- She develops a sense of self-awareness to devise strategy, categorize information, and understand concepts, a rare trait in her kind.
- Shortly after this awareness, Ul-Zen-Nar summoned her into his realm and gave her an edict: enter the realm of order and understand it or be destroyed like Xul’gaborah. Out of fear she agreed.
- Yg’baladoth spent the next thousand years mastering skills to enter the realms of order undetected and without disturbing the fabric of reality.
- The first realm she entered in was an alternate version of Ponyville, a cautious Yg’baladoth doubts the meaning of friendship from her time surviving.
- Yg’baladoth learns more about friendship and the powers of unity. She is lead to believe that beings of order are capable of more when working together.
- Believing she has learned all she could from that world, Yg’baladoth departs to another place to see what else she can uncover.

Power considerations:
- The ability to control and manipulate sound. -- At the basic level, Yg'baladoth's ability to manipulate sound allows her to hear almost everything within range. She is able to hear in ranges others can't, be able to nullify sound completely by providing it's negative amperage, and is capable of reproducing any sound she has heard perfectly, including other people's voices.
- Telepathy -- An extension of her ability with sound. In her natural state, Yg'baladoth can cause the molecules within one's body to resonate in tune with her words, making them able to "hear" her regardless of where she is. This bypasses that need and goes directly to thought-to-thought convergence.
- The ability to control and manipulate wind. -- Yet another extension of her ability to manipulate sound. This ability takes her proficiency in sound and applies it in the way the air moves, allowing her to control wind to make a big mess of things or to push air around.
